The Best Editor-Approved Sweaters for Fall and Winter

Too itchy. Not warm enough. Too tight. Too flimsy. There are hundreds and hundreds of sweaters available right now, but not all of them are going to pass muster. I recently sifted through a pile of sweaters and only kept a handful of winners that I know I’ll be wearing consistently (as long as L.A. can stave off its signature 75-degree weather for a couple more months).

First up is a handmade sweater from a Belgian brand called I Love Mr. Mittens. This one fulfilled my quest to find the ultimate chunky sweater—the cable-knit pattern is extra thick and cozy, so it practically doubles as a (very chic) blanket. On the other end of the spectrum, I found the cutest cropped sweater from For Love and Lemons. I’m obsessed with the pretty lavender color, which feels so fresh for winter, and the cropped silhouette is ideal for wearing with high-waisted jeans.

Lastly, one affordable Madewell sweater stood out from other well-priced versions. A simple cream-colored crewneck sweater is one of the most versatile fall pieces out there and can be layered under any and all of your coats.
