North Alabama schools closing because of flu

Three north Alabama school systems have announced closures because of widespread flu symptoms.

Boaz City Schools will be closed Monday and Tuesday. More than 10 percent of Boaz students were absent today, school officials said.

“For the past week, Boaz City Schools have been monitoring and evaluating our absences daily and have been taking all necessary precautions to minimize illness,” officials said in a statement.

Marshall County Schools will also close Monday and Tuesday, reported AL.com news partner WHNT News-19.

Albertville City Schools, which were closed today, have also canceled Monday classes.
