Avengers: Endgame set for a re-release with new footage | SciFiNow

Kevin Feige has confirmed – in slightly uncertain terms – that Avengers: Endgame could be returning to cinemas as soon as next weekend, containing new footage that didn’t make the original cut of the film.

Speaking to Comicbook.com, Feige confirmed the re-release, before adding ‘I don’t know if it’s been announced’, and that he ‘didn’t know how much’ new footage would be included. So consider that confirmed, but with caveats.

The film currently sits at $2.743 billion in the global box office, infuriatingly short of Avatar’s $2.788 billion record. A re-release with new footage might help bump it over the threshold, making it the biggest-grossing film of all time.

Already coming in at just over three hours long, any extra footage may seem like a bit of a stretch, but given the film’s enormous popularity we can’t imagine that fans wouldn’t want to see even more of Endgame if they were given the chance. Perhaps we’ll finally get to see some of those Black Widow scenes that were glimpsed in the trailer but weren’t in the final movie?

There’s still no word on whether the re-release will be global or just in the US, and, indeed, there’s still no real confirmation that it will actually be happening next weekend – but it’s pretty safe to say that an even longer cut of Avengers: Endgame will be coming our way soon.
